Behavioral fingerprint
Habits that show in how a wallet is used rather than in who it pays: the hours it is active, round amounts, a fixed gas setting, a fixed rhythm, and the wallet app it delegates to.
Why it matters
Section titled “Why it matters”Habits are hard to change and easy to compare. Activity that stops at the same hours every night hints at a time zone. Two wallets with the same quiet hours, the same round amounts and the same gas setting look like one person, even when no funds ever moved between them.
| Rule | Fires when | Severity | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
timezone | At least 25 transactions this address signed, with a run of 5 to 12 near-silent hours (each at most 2% of the activity). | medium from confidence 0.6, else low | 0.3 + 0.05 × (silent hours - 5) + 0.4 × min(1, transactions / 100), at most 0.9 |
round_amounts | At least 8 outgoing transfers, and 40% or more are round: at most 2 significant digits for the native coin (0.05, 1.5, 20), a multiple of 10 for a stablecoin. | medium from 60% round, else low | 0.4 + transfers / 60, at most 0.9 |
fixed_gas | At least 10 contract calls, and half or more use one exact gas limit across 2 or more different functions. Or, on Ethereum, half or more of at least 10 transactions paid one exact gas price. | low | 0.4 + share / 2, at most 0.85; for the gas price 0.7 |
fixed_timing | At least 10 transactions, a typical gap of 5 minutes or more, and 60% of the gaps within 3% (at least 60 seconds) of it. | low | the share of such gaps, at most 0.85 |
wallet_software | The address delegates to a smart account (EIP-7702), which names the wallet app. | low | 0.9 |
The time zone assumes the silent hours are night, centred on 03:00 local time, and is shown as a range of one hour either side.
Each of these signals is weak on its own: millions of people share a time zone. That is why this detector has one of the lowest caps in the Privacy Score.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Only transactions the wallet signed itself count for hours, gas and rhythm.
- Round amounts count native coins and stablecoins. Other tokens are left out.
- A night-shift worker or a bot can look like a different time zone.
How to reduce it
Section titled “How to reduce it”- Avoid exact round amounts on wallets you want to keep apart.
- Let the wallet estimate gas for each transaction instead of using one fixed setting.
- Do not run wallets you keep apart from the same script or schedule.
